New Woodworking Shop… Small Space Small Budget

Discover An Entire Framework For Setting Up A Dream Woodcraft Workshop

Craftsmanship is calculated largely by the tools you use. When you don’t know how to choose the right tools, you have a bigger problem in your hands. Being a journeyman woodworker with more than 15 or so years of experience, it is safe to say that I have seen and done it all.
My first few years were hard. I know now that I should have been someone’s apprentice, to guide me every step of the way, but I was not lucky. I had to learn the hard way, making several mistakes in the process. I lost thousands of dollars while setting up my workshop and trying to grow my company.

A Review of Ultimate Small Shop Guide

I read Ralph’s Ultimate shop guide and instantly knew I had a goldmine in my hands. Why didn’t I have this 15 years ago?

Here’s why:

One of the greatest mistakes I made in the past was overspending on tools. I was this tool and that tool, and other times I ended up spending way more on tools I didn’t really need. You can’t blame me though; there are so many tools out there. I didn’t know what the BEST tools were, or how much I should pay. There is so much to learn if you’re starting out.

You don’t have to recreate the Wheel

I quickly learned that buying from big-box retailers such as Home Depot, Amazon, all the big box stores was not a good idea. Those huge stores don’t have experts who can give specialized answers to my tool related questions. There really is no one-stop shop.

And as Ralph mentions, the “paid” reviews and recommendations make buying tools a confusing maze. Most of the time these “sponsored” reviews are paid for by actual tool manufacturers!
I also am not looking for old refurbished tools sold as good condition tools that just end up being ragged and failing after a use or two.

Then there is also the risk of buying too much in terms of quantity and price, not spending enough, and even buying tools that just suck. This experience is heartbreaking. You lose money, you lose your valuable time. It gets worse when you go through the experience several times. It really is enough to make you give up your business and just punch another clock.

Time tested strategies

Like I said before, when I started out 25 years ago I realized I needed someone to show me a system for setting up my shop. There are numerous other woodworkers who are in a similar situation right now.

Here’s why I highly recommend Ultimate Small Shop to anyone setting up shop

Ralph created the Ultimate Small Shop Guide to help you set up a fully functional small shop on a budget. And it clearly shows in the book.
There are plenty of guides out there on shop setup but most of them don’t focus on budget – which is in my opinion one of the most important factors.

Now if you have a huge budget, that’s great. But most of us do not have that luxury – certainly not me. The tips and advice in this guide is extremely useful and practical for shops starting out on a budget.

Ralph provides you with all the lessons he learned the hard way. This guide was written to save you from the agony of the trial-and-error process of setting up shop. Never again should you have to make amateur mistakes or pour unnecessary money into buying the wrong tools at the wrong time.
